I ve read this on pymaemo mailing list :

"If I understood correctly libglade won't be
anymore supported officially by Maemo. Unfortunately lots of
applications still depend on it, for the most various reasons. And
until GtkBuilder can't fully replace glade, it would be nice to have
the python bindings working, even if they were part of an not official
python package."
