for example ios has got relatively fast boat but its speed is limited. android has been very slow until recent hyperspeed, and symbians boat has been slowly getting slower and slower.

the problem with your logics is that it is really short-sighted. what you said applies for now but what about 2016? no os can be market leader for infinite time.

Well, the metaphor is appropriate. But perhaps this is better. There is a party, and it has people in black suits and ties, while Nokia have turned up stark bollock naked. Doesn't matter what may have happened in 2008 or 2016 - they have nothing to offer right now. They are a company that employs a lot of people, has invested in plant and machinery - they cannot just put that all to one side in the hope that things might change in 5 years. They need a quick solution. That may be short sighted - but the reality of technology is that five years is a luxury. Things change in 6 months, and Nokia hasn't kept up.

Why argue about it. It would be nice if it were otherwise. It would be nice if we could continue to indulge in our fantasies about what could/should be - but Android did, and Maemo/MeeGo didn't.

Mish.
