If Elop won't allow high end hardware to end up Nokia's first smart phone, or if he doesn't allow any Meego phone at all, it seems like Nokia won't have any flagship device until end of 2012 or something. Until that time, Nokia could be bankrupted. And if not, then anyway Google's ecosystem already is too big to tackle.
Hence the reason why it seems a bad idea to scrap lower end Symbian. IMO that was the bread and butter of their operations.
Just as a computer manufacturer makes makes mice, joysticks, keyboards etc, so as to fund the big stuff. But I suppose Nokia have got M$ throwing billions at them for that purpose now.
