Well, bluetooth strap-ons are an unfortunate kludge, no argument.

But even with the extra power consumed, I bet the iPad has significantly better battery life than the MacBook, plus you can leave the keyboard/case behind when you don't expect to be typing enough to justify the added bulk/weight.

This is why I'm (still, almost a year later ) on the pre-order list for the Ai Touch Book, a proper implementation of ARM slate with detachable keyboard, even though it's got a rather pathetic 1024x600/9" resolution.
