If you're using the DIABLO_X86 target, these messages should be printed to the console.

If you're using the device, do this:

/etc/init.d/hildon-desktop stop
su - user -c "maemo-summoner /usr/bin/hildon-desktop.launch"

To reduce the amount of error messages you get from other applets etc., disable as much applets as possible (you can remove "Mandatory=true" from applets' desktop files) and use one of the themes that ship with the device
