norsk, I had the same problem with the boot loop. This post is also pertinent to those trying to install from Ubuntu live cd.

Turns out that the live CD method does not work sometimes. For unknown reasons, the virtual filesystem that it creates has no free space for the os2008 files to expand into during installation. This results in only a partial flash.

Check your logs for write errors or disk space errors.

My solution was to install Ubuntu to a partition. The process was then seamless. And I'm a big fan of Ubuntu now, too.
