I did dump it ... in my case, I was using a tray with less than 1cm depth only. I just wanted to rice to get around the sides of the phone, and not contaminate the internal portion. But still that content could have fed 2 medium size plates

For OP's case, he got a bag of rice and using a tupperware to dry his phone. Seems waste to throw away that quantity of rice.
