Has anyone seen this before and can I fix this myself?

Well I had the same issue happen last summer. Though I had to send my n900 for repairs 4 times. I had some issues with the back light, and that was fixed the first time. At the same time they had scratched the lens so I had to return it. The next time the glass was ok, but I had the same issue as you have now. The third time everything was ok, but the the display element was dusty as heck. This time I did not want to return my phone for re-repairs, so I switched to another nokia care to get the dust off. The first repair shop is a licensed care for many different vendors and products, so it wasnot a Nokia issue though. After having my own problems with the company, I've heard similar stories from several sources.
