Google has made market app stats available for developers: http://www.androidcentral.com/google...veloper-portal Interestingly, 86% of users are using v2.1 and v2.2 . It would seem that claims of 'fragmentation' are somewhat overstated, however, I wonder how this will change when v2.3 hits the market en-mass as v2.1/2.2 was part of Android's explosive growth. I would bet that at 86% for a major version (v2), android is actually less fragmented than other popular smartphone OSs.
It's official, the Market Stats module is available to developers: http://android-developers.blogspot.c...id-market.html This lets developers make important decisions about targeting their apps based on actual user statistics. This is a very good idea.
