I don't think they're related, no - the other issue is to do with having experimental packages installed, which then conflict with the release versions.

Anyway, that doesn't show any errors What does "apt-cache policy hildon-desktop" show? You could also try disabling all the repositories in App Manager, exiting, then going back in and re-enabling them. That should force a complete redownload of the repository data.
