Pics like that are aperture controlled photos. N900 and most ultracompacts have no aperture. The pics you posted are from stock images and are likely takes with over-kilogram cameras.

The best you can go is de-focus the bg by placing the objext very close. While a DSLR commonly have a 24mm sensor, N900 has a 2.5 range or so, with an even smaller optic system, so it has to be really, really close. Think minimum focus. 5cm?

This comes up surprisingly often. You can't compare phone photos with anything dedicated, let alone a pro photo with gear.
