Neither. It's an ARM linux executable that runs and breaks through the sandboxes and elevates the shell into root. Nice, huh?

I could be wrong, but my guess is that you don't need to root or do anything except download a replacement desktop out of the store and set it up as your new default desktop. (i.e. LauncherPro)
