Clearly, this all falls under science because the Mayan calendar, from which this all comes from, is in fact really all about astronomy. I don't entirely understand why people think it's the end of the world, though. It's the end of an era and supposed to mark the end of a galactic year, astronomically speaking. Otherwise, I'm not sure I understand all the hype and excit--ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!
