This happened to me the other day (although I lost my virtual keyboard after installing GeePS), after trying every combination fixes posted here, this is what worked.

1. Disable vkb in Settings
2. Install uKeyboard from Extras
3. Reboot
4. Enable vkb in Settings (at this stage the vkb was still NOT working)
5. Uninstall uKeyboard from Extras
6. Reboot
7. Virtual Keyboard working again
