This would be great only on portrait mode but sure will make the landscape mode less usable...
It's possible to change any properties you like upon rotation, but if it becomes too complicated, it can affect performance. Whether this is noticeable will depend on the transition animation used (default CSSU rotation makes it look worse for me), and what processes are running when rotation takes place.
