Hell it is, then.

I'm playing with the QML video component at the moment. I have it working, but:

1. There is no audio (I have only tested a couple of local files, so I'll continue with further testing).

2. QML elements that are overlaid on the video appear fully opaque, even if the opacity is set lower (in my case 0.5).

3. Transitions on overlaid elements look dreadful, with lots of flicker.

The poor performance of transitions is probably down to disabling OpenGL acceleration. I'll continue with further testing, but there will need to be some compromises in the playback UI (nothing major) in order to make this feasible on the N900.
