Did you remove the powerkernel with the application manager? if so, you need to reflash your kernel image. This is because you can only remove the powerkernel with the supplied tool. If you remove the powerkernel from the app-manager, your phone will be left without a kernel, so theres nothing to boot.... and that only shows after a reboot.
