Thanks for the tip.
Effectively, the problem is in the APRS configuration.
Whenever I edit the config, leaving the dialog kills mapper. Sometime after saving the settings, sometimes _before_.

The problem I had was likely an error in my original configuration, which I have not anymore since I've reinstalled all.

I think it should be a validation of the config prior to try to set potentially wrong values at APRS startup.
