This is not an image for the N900, it is for flashing the N900.
It is a LiveCD iso, which you can burn to a DVD (or write to a stick) and boot on a PC to then flash a N900 you have attached.

You need this if you use a modern Windows (10/11) where the flashers work unreliable. (Or they don't? Never tried to flash a N900 under Windows)

You can also boot the iso in a VM, and use it there. How reliable it works depends on the VM settings and software.

Long story short: This work ensures you can flash your N900 even when current operating systems are now longer compatible with the flashing software.
