I setup G-Mail on my N9 as an exchange account and it imported all of my contacts from my old phone (awesome)... but I don't want to keep using G-Mail, and when I remove that exchange account it deletes all of my contacts along with it. Nokia Link doesn't allow me to import contacts. So my question is, how can I do a one-time import of all of my G-Mail contacts, without having to leave the G-Mail account signed in?

when you setup the exchange account, just turn the mail switch off

you'll see 3 options, turn on/off what you'd like

calendar

contacts

mail

This is still a major issue. Check out the 'Contacts' thread, it was voiced there as well, but the Nokia rep for the thread has not answered in weeks.

if i'm not mistaking PR1.2 will offer you the ability to remove the account but keep the contacts

i really hope so, cause the organisation for which i maintain a website and currently has google apps is planning to move their site, so i wont have access to said google account anymore in a few months

incidentaly that was the first exchange account i set up
i never wanted to put my contacts on the google account ffs
why nokia why do you do something like this?
