For iPhone, but I'm imagining the possibilities:

Well, if you haven't guessed, I'm pretty big on AR stuff right now. I love the idea of a virtual touch-screen that references "clues" that are off-tablet (e.g., the paper-based keyboard on the video). What if you could point your tablet's camera at your TV and have a "remote control" come up onscreen for you to manipulate your TV viewing experience in some way? Then, you could point it at something on the TV screen, tap it and have Wikipedia pull up a description of what you've just tapped... Some of the other links I've posted might be more realistic, but these are just a few ideas. I really like the idea of being able to point a tablet at anything in real-life and have the software be able to recognize what it is and pull up pertinent info in real-time...

I see that ARtookKit is now in extras-devel and has been used for this demo:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhzWFH82GCs
which looks amazing.

Now I just need instructions on how to get going

Check out Witter, a twitter client for N900
http://danielwould.wordpress.com/witter

If Witter isn't working for you, eg crashes/doesn't start, gives errors etc etc. Please run it from x-term using:
run-standalone.sh python2.5 /opt/witter/witter.py

This will generate diagnostic output. Without this I cannot help you.
