My n900 is working fine and all. But after seeing this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=35196

I got curious as to my current firmware version.

I was quite surprised when I went to About Product...

NOKIA
(null)
(null)
Version: (null)
Wi-Fi MAC addres...

The mac's and imei show correctly, but my version number appears to be missing.

This is a production unit, I'm pretty sure at one time these numbers displayed correctly but not absolutely sure.
  • Is this going to cause a problem when we get a new firmware version?
  • Anyway I can restore whatever file it's pulling this info from?
  • Anyone else seeing this?

The only weird thing I remember doing to the FS is moving /usr/share/icons/ out of the pathetically small root partition and symlinking them back.

I've also installed easy-debian chroot, running from a ext3 formatted microSD.

Did you get this fixed? Mine has started doing this post firmware upgrade to 1.0.1. I wonder where it reads the information from.

I had to upgrade the firmware (to 1.0.1) via apt-get install mp-fremantle-203-pr.

Had that when I upgraded to 1.0.1 -203 and it wasn't fixed when I just upgraded to PR1.1 -203

*#0000# reports <n/a> <n/a>, <n/a> (c) Nokia

Ha!!
funny, but not very helpful

I used the app manager to do the update, nothing fancy.
