AFAIK sfos and mer(?) are Qt based, while maemo5 is Gtk. I really like Qt and prefer it over Gtk every time, but Gtk resource usage is times less. And that still counts where it comes to embedded. Also, I don't think that porting Hildon from Gtk to Qt is a trivial task.

Just dropping this in here, but you are aware this entire community is about nostalgia for dead or at best zombie OS's and keeping old phones running.

We are trying to pick up from where Nokia left when they made the mistake, not Nostalgia for NOTHING . Can you see the difference?

I don't think Hildon should run there new OS, but the N9 swipe UI should run it. Hildon is better suited for tablets.

Worth mentioning here.

Nokia design patents transferred from Microsoft to HMD; Lumia Camera UI included
According to EUIPO, about 500 design patents previously owned by Microsoft Mobile Oy were transferred to its new owner, HMD Global Oy.
