Hi
I got my N900 yesterday and it works perfectly, gorgeous device.

However when i open my email app to set it up, either from desktop shortcut or apps screen, it opens balnk and shows a loading symbol at the top next to where it says Email.

i've tried everything i can think of including setting all settings to default.

If the fix is to format, how do I do that?

Try reflashing it as described in the wiki: https://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware

Have you got your sim in, and have you set up your internet connections?
