Sailfish is using libhybris to use Android kernel and drivers?
I am assuming it does, the G7 Power is truly a beast of a phone with a big battery but with Android power management I wonder how newer versions would handle the standby and CPU power scaling. It is the lack of fine power tuning and full use of hardware acceleration.
It is really too bad that the Moto G7 doesn't have full FOSS drivers available for mainline Linux.
FWIW running Mobian on PPp now the standby mode is great, it always wakes to answer calls correctly, but using the phone in any way burns battery FAST!
Yes, Sailfish is using the android drivers via libhybris. (That's why we need to flash Lineage Os 17.1 before flashing Sailfish Os).
As the underlying android is not running, its power management is not in play either. Using a different (newer) android base means creating a brand new port. This not worth the effort because the android layer is only there for providing drivers for Sailfish Os.

That's great work and keeps this forum alive. Well done!

I've got a question regarding the compatibility. Will it matter if it's a XT1955-4 model? Or I don't know if there is any else variants of Moto G7 power.

Just looking which one I can buy to play with what you built. Thank you for your work!

The biggest problems we have with the Pinephone and PPpro is that we are mostly running modified desktop OSs. The power scaling is pretty much sleep or phone-gets-hot if we want a useful phone that can do 10 min of web surfing or playing solitaire without burning 10-20% of the battery we need to figure out how to get scaling and hardware assistance/acceleration working at least as well as we had it working on the N900. I want to be able to listen to an audiobook with the screen blanked for more than 90-120min before depleting the battery.
I would like to know if anyone could report sailfish power/battery burn rates on rockchip and allwinner CPUs.
