I don't know any Linux distro that follows kernel versioning like that.
Since kernel development happens independently of distro development, that would put unnecessary pressure on distro devs.
I also seem to remember that Torvalds said that the decision to up the major version number is more or less arbitrary.

Kernel version in stable image is still 6.1.15 is there coming version 6.6 anytime soon?

6.6 LTS is already there for a while: you just need to dist-upgrade to -devel.
'Stable' images are not 'ready to use' at the moment and the last ones seem broken. It is better to use older ones (and upgrade to devel).
Leste is near beta with last devel upgrade in my opinion, even on N900.
Unstable dev stuff is in -experimental branch.

After latest updates my stable 6.1 installation is quite good for every day use. I might wait stable 6.6 sdcard-image release.
