Hi pals, I recent purchased a Nokia N800 internet tablet. However, I can't install yahoo messenger. Is there a "trick" to it? Is there another IM program (Jabber?) that can link my Yahoo messenger friends? What will be in case of Msn messenger? Can it be compatible with this ? Thanks in advance.

I don't think there is yahoo messenger or msn for the n800. BUT: You have two options (that i know of) to chat with your friends: Either set up transports for gtalk which is described here: http://islandinthenet.com/2006/10/10...l-all-talking/ OR use pigeon

Pidgin, the application formerly known as Gaim, is your best bet. It runs everywhere, supports just about everything, and doesn't spamvertise at you.

The n800 only supports video and audio chat via 3 ways:

1. Audio only from skype to skype and of course any phone if you have skype out

2. Audio only from gtalk on n800 to gtalk on pc and audio and video for gtalk n800 to n800

3. Audio and video for both pc and n800 via gizmo.

All other addons like msn, yahoo, aim etc can be added to the built in chat client via rtcomm. This only allows instant messaging.
Another option is a third party client being pidgin which as far as i know only supports IM

Please correct me if i am wrong

Install rtcomm for yahoo support.

Go to App manager --- Menu > tools >Application catalog

New > In the address field type matrix > Hit cancel> Red pill> ok

Go to installable apps and install rtcomm installer.

Now go to extras and you should be able to see a rtcomm installer there click and install rtcomm.

Now go to control panel > Accounts and there you will be able to select yahoo, aim etc.

After everything get back to blue pill

Hope this helps

Of course, we all know the dangers of going off the pill

anyway, keep in mind that it is PITA to try to uninstall RTcomm if you feel it doesn't work the way you want it to.
