Hello fellow IT folks,

I am having a problem that I am hoping someone has already solved. When I run x11vnc on my N800, and then view it on my linux laptop (with vncviewer) I can click on any part of the window but the left menu bar. The cursor goes on to menu bar, but it does not respond to mouse clicks.

If I have an application (like leafpad) already open, I can click and get responses in the application window. I just don't get a response from the menu bar.

The problem is without access to the menu bar, I can't start any new applications.

Any tricks?

TIA,

Craig...

Hi guys, new on here, got the N800 a couple of weeks ago, great bit of kit.

Anyway I've got the same question as cvmiller about x11vnc.

I can access all parts of the N800 from my PC apart from the left menu bar.

Anyone know how to do this ?

Another question while I'm on......
While typing into an xterm via x11vnc any idea how to enter 'return' without popping up the soft keyboard and having to select from there ?

Thanks for any advice.

You've hit on the two main weaknesses of the access method.

Here are two work arounds:

Good luck

mfresh, thanks for the advice. I had a look at that article and have decided to leave well alone. I'll stick to openSSH on the N800 and Putty on my PC.
Cheers.
