In Telegram there is quite active Symbian group. The host of this site (http://Symbigram.com) has offered $10 000 (even though in this post below the price was misleadingly in rubles) if someone will make Telegram Qt client for Symbian. Price is based $5000/month as a Nokia developer and task would take two months.

"About in Symbigram

Putting the requirement to the developer of Telegram in JAVA So, how it looks on the freelance exchange:

A group of enthusiasts and those who deeply respect the classics-smartphones based on the Symbian OS-are looking for a developer of the Telegram messenger application.
You need a competent specialist who will complete the task in a reasonable time.
We see the work plan as follows:
1. At the first stage, development is underway for Nokia Belle Refresh/Nokia Belle FP2. Support for earlier versions of Symbian is optional (although welcome)
2. No client on Symbian is able to maintain a connection to the Telegram servers due to the lack of TLS 1.2 support in Symbian,
so you need to create an intermediate server as a proxy for the connection between the Telegram client on Symbian and the Telegram servers. Try using an existing MTProxy solution as the server. If it doesn't work out, then make your own proxy.

3. Payment is made in 2 stages. The first stage is the development of a client that will support the basic functions. These include: receiving and transmitting text messages;
synchronization with phone contacts; ability to connect to Telegram conversations. The second stage is receiving and transmitting photo, audio, and video files; stickers; and the ability to create conversations.
4. Once the client is ready for 4.7.3 – try to recompile it for Nokia N9 Meego. This is an optional requirement. For a fee.

5. The cost of performing services at the moment is 10,000 rubles.
More detailed information and discussion – at the request of potential performers.
Ask and clarify, we are open for feedback and cooperation."

Better yet if someone would make it with C++ for Symbian so the older devices could use it too.

Hi!

Surprising to see Symbian stuff here! But nice surprise to me at least!

Symbigram is an old project paused because some supposed developers were actually frauds... But yes, there is popular demand in the Symbian community about a complete native full featured Telegram client, and that would be a useful port for the MeeGo community as well. So, any help would be useful.

However, there is noone hiring as far as I know. That was just a price that a developer named, and obviously this money doesn't exist. Perhaps for a smaller amount the community might do some donations, but for 10000USD I think it is a bit much.

By the way, which is your name in that Telegram group? (you can also send me pm if you prefer privacy)

There is a developer who just promised to make a Telegram client for symbian devices. For free and opensource. And possibly in two weeks. Sorin Botirla. Checked with google and seems like a capable guy.

In case there are Symbian users around, an early release of unofficial client came out, named Kutegram.
