And so bloody jealous!

OK, this is how desperate I am: Would the Nokia flasher work under Puppy Linux?

I know someone with a Powerbook -- but still running OS 9!

I realize this doesn't put power where it needs to be, but thought I'd throw this out there anyway for those looking to avoid the AC unit when using a USB hub or those inclined to hack this as well:

I'm guessing there are other makes/models, but this particular one can be found here and likely a few other places as well:

Excellent find, daveb70. That combined with the no-solder method (using that split USB cable for hard drive enclosures) could make it a one-device solution. It's need a male-to-male cable.

Tch. Someone has not been reading. That hub was mentioned weeks ago. I also just put it in my "blog" for reference.

BTW, searching for "battery powered USB hub" returns itT near the top of Google results!

Tch. I don't/can't read every single post made in these forums, my apologies. It did seem odd that in a thread regarding power/USB the product was not noted. I'm sorry I did not think to search first.

Funny though, since it was brought up weeks ago and my "re-post" hit tonight, someone only just tonight coincidentally(?) added it to their blog, minutes mind you after my post. But I don't care so much about those details, I only point them out when others are themselves so particular about details.

Looks like at least one other may not have recalled/seen that post from prior to the 770's release so repeating it couldn't have been such a calamity nor sin.

I do appreciate your input and thoughts Mike, so keep the blog going!

BTW, I did a google.com search for your quoted phrase and I hit page 10 w/no iTt results-only when I searched "google" from within the iTt site it did hit, of course all hits being iTt based, and even then only after digging in to one of the posts listed. Your google is better than mine

Yup, a new tips/FAQ/guide of sorts is certainly in order to collectively maintain all that is discovered.

I have one of those little cheapie USB Hubs, with an adapter. Will that not work, or does it not do enough?

Read up on the various threads on USB keyboards (unfortunately there are several), all the answers are there. In short : most of these supply power to the devices downstream but not upstream to the host. So you either need to modify them, or use thoughtfix's Y-cable "solderless" hack.
