Yea, I looked and as of now it seems like they are just starting to get to stores. I'm hoping some internet retailers start posting prices so I can hunt for a bargain

I returned my n800 a couple of weeks ago and bought the Touch. The only thing I don't like is the ridicule from my coworkers. They went as far as putting one of those damn apple stickers on my car and calling me apple fanboy. I'll probably be called one in this thread as well, but here goes...

I wanted the following to replace my antique Dell Axim X5:
- a web browser so I could browse the web in bed, or in a coffee shop.
- second, I would like the option to watch video

Originally, I was told that the n800 was a better web experience overall because of the resolution and flash support. This is just not the case, however. The embarrassing little Touch is better on the eyes and requires so much less scrolling, zooming and fidgeting. That's just a fact. I've seen one other person on these boards admit to this (after I bought my n800). I personally don't miss the flash support. And honestly, when i had my n800, OS2008 wasn't out, so the n800's flash support was pathetic anyway.

The only complaints I have about the Touch....
- Can't replace battery myself
- Some minor black-rendering issue (minor "negative black" effect) that may actually be a defect. I'm bringing it in this weekend.
- lack of flash support
- can't turn off the auto-rotate, so if you're on your side in bed, you can't view pages in portrait mode.
- iTunes

If you're looking for a web browser you can fit in your pocket, and carry some movies with you, go with the Touch. If you're looking for a full-featured linux device that happens to have a web browser, then go with the n800. Make sure you're eyes are good though.

Good luck.

I really suspect that this is what your complaints come down to. The maemo devices have very high density screens, so peoole with bad vision tend to have trouble.

Having used both the iPhone and the Touch, I much prefer MicroB to Safari. It's generally better at rendering pages as close to desktop as possible and displays much more data than the iPhone/Touch's smaller and lower density screen. Interestingly, my tech-incompetent mother asks to use my N800 over her iPhone for browsing every time. That could have something to do with my 3.5g phone, though.

I'm not entirely sure what complaints you had with video playback, but the N800 will handle properly encoded video 100% every time.

Hi. I have been a Mac man most of my life, but I will stay tuned with my N800's(2).
To me, the iPod and now the iphone is like Blackberry trying hard to be something close to a Treo.
I relish flexibility and diversity. PalmOS offered that for a good many years. ....And gosh now they are being so lovingly drawn into the N800's world with the recent intro of the Palm VM. Brilliant, is all I can say.

No complaints at all on the Nokia screen. Larger, crisp and clear, 'fine' enough for my 42 year old 20/20 eyes.

Because data rates in Canada are still way over inflated, I moved away from the all in one cell phone idea, with so much of their emphasis on the OTA(overtheair) installs and downloading.
'iCandy' is nice, lol but I have to say, outside of a few growing pains, the N800's are the ultimate 'jack knife'.
So many apps already and utterly free. Look at barely this last year, what an astonishing pace of growth.
They can keep the iPhone and the 'crackberries' and Wm5/6's, I am loving my Internet Tablet!

now to go and configure the video chat!
