I might wait on installing mplayer on a tablet with OS2008--the beta for OS2008 seems pretty unstable to me. I installed mplayer primarily to play oggs with Kagu, and it works pretty well for that. However, the current beta has a difficult time with my videos, so I am using the built-in player for video at the moment...
