Is there any app which will give better results playing VCDs (PAL ie 352x288, 1150 per second) then default os2007 player? Can I expect improvement if I upgrade to os 2008?

Thanks,
Slawek.

You could try installing mplayer and/or VLC - the two Swiss Army Knives of Linux video - and reporting back with the results...

Another interesting question wrt. VCDs would be the ideal way of encoding them for smaller size and higher efficiency decoding.

I tried MPlayer .18. Works wery well. Though it is only VCD teletext subtitles are readable. The application would be perfect if only it would allow to stretch the 4:3 video horizontally (fit to width) and allow to scroll the end result vertically (to comfortably watch wide screen content and not to miss subtitles I need).
