I receive the print ads for Micro Center in the mail. On page 18 of the ad for 2/11-3/2 there is an ad for the Nokia N810 for $499. The interesting things is that it specifically states in the N810 ad *Compatible with any GSM Network and *2GB internal flash *Integrated slide keypad, GPS, and micro USB.

I looked at the N810 listed on microcenter dot com and it does NOT list the GSM network compatibility or the internal 2GB flash.

Does anyone know about the GSM compatibility of the N810? I have an N810 but I am not aware that I can use it on GSM.

The product # listed in the ad is 385252.

Whoever typed it up probably thought it was another Nokia phone, and added GSM to the features list. There are no GSM radios in the device.

Ive seen them everywhere listed as GSM compatable, but nope its not true...There seems to be tons of confusion on this matter with the NITs

With a bluetooth phone the gsm radio would be redundant anyway, altho gprs/edge are pretty slow, but there is hope I'm waiting for Tmob to roll out 3g in my area (philly metro) this month or next with other nets to follow after the big metros are done, it just may give me another reason to buy a new phone, but I just read that TMOB wont be using the "standard" freq for its 3g net, so once again we yanks are doing our own thing while the rest of the world uses a standard(ie ntsc, 120v power, no metric, etc)
I use Sony Ericsson fones and there is a big hacking community built up around them and some of the older phones seem to have scripts available to change the freqs they use so there maybe hope...
