Wow. What a difference that would make! It's so close to the magical $200 barrier, and below the cost of even desktop machines running Linux, that it would be stunning.

The news would be blasted all over the phone/games/ebook blogosphere at top volume.

Let's hope it's true. :0

Edited to add, moments later:

Now that I've had a full five seconds to digest this, I'm thinking it might be like how you get a phone at low cost -- sign up with some broadband supplier and get the 770 at this special deal. Maybe one of those deals is close to happening.

It would be incredible if it came to pass. But given the rising price of fuel, I doubt it. These things *still* have to be shipped all over -- parts to assembly to consumer.

That is a great price. That is a total gadget impulse buy.

Oy, don't get your hopes up!

First you had a virtual wake for the not-yet-released 770.

Now everyone is crazed.

This place is manic-depressive!

250 to be comparable to the Sony PSP?

That sounds plausible -- even though the screen has a higher resolution, it's physically the same size as the PSP so people might compare the two (especially with the PSP's new browsing capability) to the 770's disadvantage.

Let's just hope this holds true. This would certainly be a deciding factor of its success in my opinion.
