Is anyone here working with and/or have ever worked with FLITE?
If so, I'd like to chat with you on the "HOW TOO'S. I can get it to say things through exterm, but don't know any of the commands to get it to read files, or highlighted text. I am NOT a programmer, nor do I have any knowledge of programming, so I don't know the first thing about technical stuff. I read most of "your" postings here through a program called TEXT ALOUD (with AT&T Natural Voices) on my Vista machine and would love to do the same thing with my NIT, if possible.

Can someone help me, or at least point me in the right direction for a solution.

Thanks in advance people, for any and all help provided.

I'm using it to develop a literacy-promoting application using python:

Have a look at my source code. I've implemented a couple of different ways of using flite to read text.

You're not going to be able to touch the hem of the quality you get with TextAloud with an AT&T voice. Crystal is my gal!

tj110158,

If you install Penguinbate's hacked KDE you will be able to use Flite to read webpages, emails, text, etc... Sounds like Stephen Hawkins but very nice addition to the ITT. Dan
