Is it possible to get driving directions without a gps? For example, could I store a map of the US on an n800 and then put in a start address and an end address and have it give me the directions? Maybe google maps or a similar software? Thanks

Maemo mapper will show you the route, but any mapping site will provide text directions that can be emailed to you which you can open up on the IT.

Maemo Mapper can download maps and display them on your Nokia device, with or without a GPS receiver. It can also generate a route between any two arbitrary locations, but this capability requires internet access (the route is automatically retrieved from the internet).
