Hello - total newbie here!

I have been lurking for a few days and have found this forum to be tremendously helpful. Thank You!

But - I have run into a problem that I can't figure out....

When I try to change background or use Quiver, etc I am told that my image folder is empty. If I try to open the .jpg from File Manager I have to select an App to view it because it is an unknown file type (Quiver will show just a blank screen when I do this). Yet - I can view the files just fine in Canola.

Does anybody have an idea what I can do to fix this?

It might want the file to end in .jpeg, not just .jpg, but if so, this should be reported as a bug. Does it show with a picture in frame icon in the file manager? Or with just a blank?

Also check (from a PC) that it is x.jpg, not x.jpg.abc as the filemanager tries to hide extensions. I think the about/info for the file will reveal this too.

(Sometimes FileManager is picky - it won't launch OGGs directly to the media player, but I have the ogg addition installed).

Not sure what the problem might be, but I can say that it's not a .jpg/.jpeg issue. I've been able to open files with both extensions on any IT with any OS. Could be that the image isn't actually a jpeg (e.g. it's actually a .png but has a .jpg extension). For some image viewers that's not a problem as long as it supports both file types since they go by the file header instead of the file extension, but some image viewers (possibly the IT's) may go strictly by the file extension and get confused when the file header doesn't match. I haven't tried testing this, but it's worth a shot.

It was definitely not the image file. The extensions were fine and I could view them in everything else correctly. Either way...it is still a mystery to me. I flashed and re-installed everything and now the exact same images work fine.

Thanks for the replies.
