I wish to use my N800 that has only been used for internet browsing away from home, when I could find an unsecured WiFi. I now have been given a DeLorme USB Earthmate GPS unit and wish to use it for GPS navigation on the N800. I have built an OTG doongle, butchered a miniB cable and an old USBA extension cable, and it works talking to memory sticks.

But, when I plug in the GPS I get device not supported. I found a maemo cypress usb driver project and I assume I need it, but what else would I need. Has gpsd been ported to the N800 and a navigation app to use it?

Amazon.com has several Bluetooth GPS receivers in the $30 price range - no need to drain your N800 battery powering a USB device....
I place my N800 in the "speedometer well" of my dash - wouldn't want a cable snaking up to the GPS unit (I place my Earthmate BT-20 up by the windshield...)
