Does anybody know what this process is:

964 user 21516 SW< /usr/bin/maemo-launcher --daemon --booster gtk --quie

It is constantly using 10% CPU and more on my N800 with Diablo (latest release).

P.S. It seems better now after I killed Modest.

do a ps | grep 964 ( or whatever the first number is ) to get the real process name.

10% is not that much and if you are plugged in that could easily be the charging applet ( yes, because 100% of the rendering is done my the CPU ).

That's exactly what I had used and it produced:

964 user 21516 SW< /usr/bin/maemo-launcher --daemon --booster gtk --quie

Well it was when the screen was dark being logged in via SSH from my notebook.

And then normally running "top" uses just 2% or so.

But this was eating battery in no time.

As I said it is related to Modest. After killing and restarting Modest all was fine again.

Meanwhile I found that other people have similar problems with Modest, see here:

This also helps finding out what's behind that particular maemo-launcher:
Code:
cat /proc/964/cmdline
Replace 964 with the process ID.
