Sometimes i need input some asia character in my N800,
So I install Maemo CJK in my Diablo. The Maemo CJK need matchbox-keyboard to input Asia character. Unfortunately ,it seem matchbox-keyboard do not work on inputbox of web form, and could not switch back to the default soft keyboard of diablo.
My question is, if i installed Maemo CJK(and install matchbox-keyboard), i can't switch back to the default soft keyboard, this situation make me could not input any anything in web page.
Does someone have some idea of this??

it seems that there is no solution for that because the maemoCJK project has given up im-switch-on-the-go

What I did was to install the "Easy Debian Turbo Charged Edition". Then I install scim inside debian (instead of installing maemocjk inside maemo). Just open a terminal inside debian, and enter:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install scim-pinyin

To make scim the default input, enter the following lines in ~/.chroot file:
export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM"
export XIM_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/scim -d
export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim
export QT_IM_MODULE=scim

Reboot, and it should work.

When I need to enter Chinese, I just use the equivalent Debian apps (leafpad, stardict, firefox etc). Your don't have to run them inside the LXDE environment, you can simply run it within maemo The hildon keyboard will not be replaced by matchbox keyboard anymore!

I got very confused since I did not try it.
do you mean still I can not use maemo apps otherwise HILDON keyboard will be invoked? or it does not matter what apps (debian or maemo), for HILDON keyboard is replaced by matchbox-keyboard?

Ok, after installing "Easy Debian", you can run apps in 3 ways:

1. The standard maemo/diablo way: hildon keyboard will appear. No chinese input as maemocjk is not installed. microb browser works perfectly.

2. Debian apps within maemo windows: you will find a list of pre-installed debian apps like openoffice, firefox browser e.t.c. You can run it within maeom as if it is a maemo apps.

3. There is a 'Debian LXDE' app (pre-installed) that if you run it, you get a LXDE windows manager (no reboot required, it runs like another apps). You can run debian apps inside it, with the advantage of movable windows e.t.c.

For both (2) & (3), you can input Chinese (if you install scim additionally). You have to use matchbox-keyboard (installed by easy debian). Trade-off: slower than (1). Advantage: lots more apps that are not available in maemo.

If you need Chinese input occasionally, this is the best solution I can find. If you use Chinese input intensively, then sticking to maemocjk is better (use a debian web browser to get around microb problem).

Hi,
There is no way to switch back to hildon keyboard (default keyboard) unless you uninstall maemocjk.

maemocjk under diablo got this problem with microb browser. There is no solution to make both work together. Other than the easy debian solution above, alternative (simpler) solutions are:

1. downgrade to chinook os -- maemocjk has no problem with the browser.

2. install another keyboard (not matchbox), like xvkbd. Then use xvkbd to work with the browser.

3. buy a bluetooth external keyboard.

Decide the best solution yourself
