Well, today is sunday, so I dig out my 'immaturity' outfit and play with it more.

Bottomline:

1) tablet hooked up directly with AC powered HD, this one is 300G 3.5" large footprint ext HD, no USB hub. so far, r/w is fine. Yes, I kind of corrected myself

2) tablet hooked up via a USB hub, powered/no powered, writing is chaotic in ALL cases, AC powered ext HD, card reader, palm size 2.5' small footprint ext HD, same behavior

3) tablet hooked up directly to card reader, dont know. My card reader requires powered USB hub and results as in 2), writing is chaotic.

4) tablet hooked up directly to small footprint 2.5" ext HD, 14 G, with USB powered, nay. same problem, crash the tablet 1 out of 2.

I repeat, reading is ALL fine, I played music in this way, 24 hrs, maybe only one hiccup.

Sounds like the problem could be with the USB hubs, not devices? Maybe just certain models/types? Can anyone report using a USB powered hub without issue?

I have similar "chaotic" experiences with USB, but NOT SD.

ALL SD CARDS WORK FINE!

USB, on the other hand, fails some times. For example, I had a 200MB video playing, and I could see the red light blinking on the flash drive, indicating that it was being used. Then, BANG, it just stops and a few seconds later the video dies.

I am currently running two 32gb cards, I am waiting for my buddy at SanDisk To send me a 64gb card to try They are going to be for sale in the first part of 2009. He has told me that the 128gb cards should be released for consumer testing within a year.... I am looking forward to that. I will give a update as I always do.

Ok. Also I have not had any problems, I copied a 4gb file from one card to the other with our any problems, then back again, again with no problems. From what I can tell there are really no limitations to the memory any more. But then again I could be wrong.

I assume you are using the standard size SD, and not the mini or micro.
