Somehow with the latest diablo on N800, I didn't manage to view chinese PDF texts (all chars are shown as a nice little square box), neither by using 'Evince' nor by using the default one: 'PDF reader'. Surely there are suggestions to print this kind of PDF texts with chars 'embedded', but this is clearly not the best way at all.

Is there anything where I can tune a little to enable this?
(For example: install additional fonts or so)

Using FBreader, I could read normal chinese texts (in GB-coding),
as some people here mentioned, this is a matter with the setting "Preference > Styles > Family > MHeiGB18030C-Medium'.

But how to do this for Evince/PDF reader?

I use the same system and the software,no embedded font,But I can view pdf with Chinese.

There is only Wicrosoft Yahei Chinese font in my machine.

Is the character coding used in your PDF compatible with MHeiGB18030C-Medium, ie. GB family coding? If not, it won't display properly. If the character coding is UTF-8, you got to install additional Chinese UTF-8 fonts (like the Microsoft Yahei mentioned above).

If you are using windows PC, copy the Chinese fonts from \windows\fonts to ~/.fonts directory on your tablet. Then reboot it.
