I meant it's no longer possible to view the iplayer website with the default browser settings. Also, I believe get_iplayer is not particularly liked by the BBC and is certainly not officially supported. However, it does allow those of us without flash 10 (and hence adobe air) to play content offline and more recently, access it at all - so yes, get_iplayer is really great.

For bbc radio, change your browser string with HideUserAgent (in extras-devel) and look on bbc.co.uk/iplayer . Most stations broadcast live (online), otherwise you can stream or use get_iplayer to download. I believe BBC radio is not isp geo-restricted. For other stations, there are a couple of pieces of software dedicated to internet radio in the repositories.

It would be verymuch helpful if you could name the software in repositories.I have spent hours together for possible ways of extracting urls in ubuntu. Most of them like urlfinder, urlsniffer etc are for windows.I have tried it with wireshark and ettercap in ubuntu. My limited knowledge in linux didnt permit me probing wireshark in depth. The site VOICEVIBES.NET has an embedded player behind activex control.Regardng BBC, world service english news is enough for me.what i am searching for is urls of my language. Thanks for quick reply.

other internet radio software...
- open FAM,
- press install applications
- type the letters r, a, d, i and o. A search bar pops up when you start to type.
- select and install the ones you want.

**If you install something from devel or testing be mindful of the potential to crash.

Have a look at this thread. All the BBC Radio straming links you could need. The Radio 7 link still works for 4 Extra.

It's kind of related - many of probably use get_iplayer and that is certainly "a different approach" to watching iplayer compared with streaming to the screen.

> Look up get_iplayer
- - start on TMO also, look at the list of commands on linuxcentre.net
> Look up rtmpdump and flvstreamer.
- - see if there's another prject that suits your needs

Do look for internet radio applications in "extras" though. NB.You may also need to install perl (libperl) for streaming to file.
