I've been messing around with my 770 and downloading some things from the 2006 catalog, (which of all the web sites i've been to takes the longest to load and its mostly text).

Some programs install fine - no problem
Other programs require other programs or they won't install
Is there an automatic way to get these other programs (dependencies), or do I have to write each one down, make sure that I spell it right, search for it, etc.

i thought that an application manager would handle stuff like this.

the app manager would handle all the dependancies if you were installing the app through it. since the app is not listed in a repository, and only on the website, its a manual process. the only other possibility is that you install the package with the app manager, and it resolves the dependancies when you install the package, but i cant be sure of that.

two of the apps that I have been trying to download are maemodrag and maemo mapper. Both are in the 2006 catalog and I use the app manager.

By the way how do you highlight a link (select it in order to copy and paste it. I try to drag across text , but the whole screen just scrolls around?

In order to copy and paste text in the browser on the 770, do a tap-then-tap-and-drag move, sort of like a double tap, but doing the selection on the second tap, takes a few tries to get the hang of it.

to get the context menu, press and hold on a link. after a few seconds the "right click" menu, as windows users would know it, appears with a few options. one of them is "copy link location". this will allow you to paste the URL where you wanted it.
