http://www.datajack.com/ offers prepaid unlimited 3g data for 39.99/mo. it plugs in via usb. does anyone know if there is a way to use this with my n810 via the usb port? supposedly it's useable with linux computers. or is there a way to use it via bluetooth? please excuse my ignorance. tia.

No harm contacting their support:

You're familiar with USB OTG for the N810? Look for jolouis' connector and thread.

called datajack support and they seem to have no clue. according to someone on howardsforum, this portable aluratek router youhttp://www.jr.com/aluratek/pe/ALR_CDM530AM/ works with it, so you could create a wifi hotspot.

I'll tell you where this would have been worth it to me. I just rented an apartment for 5 weeks. It turned out that it had unsecured wifi nearby that I "borrowed." But if it didn't, I'd have liked a service like this that I could buy for a single month. I would have used it (with that router) for my laptop as well as for the NIT. For the NIT generally, however, this isn't the sort of solution that has any appeal for me. Not very portable; and it's expensive enough that if it were what I generally needed, I think I'd be better off with the N900 and a t-mobile plan (if I felt I could pony up the bucks for the N900).

someone else on howardforums got the sim card out and got data on a jailbroken iphone working with it. sooner or later someone will try that with the n900, i'm sure.

Option Icon has pretty good Linux support with the HSO driver. So chances are, that with a lot of compiling, you could get a kernel that supported the device on the N810, if you sorted out the USB host and powering issues.
