ouch my mistake!
There I thought i was being all thorough by including my OS version, I didnt even bother checking the applet.
I actually have CPU/Mem/Screenshot applet with run command by John Costigan. The third one listed on the ApplicationCatalog2006 page.
i just Downloaded the .deb and installed the file from the application manager.

I even deleted it and reinstalled to make sure. After its installed i guess either reboot or you can go to the control panel and open the navigation section to the tab for "Status Bar" where you should see "load" there. click ok to close that window and the applet should appear.
