These come from 3rd party packages. They're not there by default.
And yes, AdHoc WiFi is a battery killer.

What 3rd party packages? I have run across this adhoc stuff before and just thought it was anonymous skullduggery like viruses. Do people do this openly, and if so, why? (Maybe I should start googling, but I haven't yet.) I saw the dummy_lap recently also.

I just discovered that there is a new adhoc WLAN connection called devel_adhoc.
With static ip 192.168.4.15
AND 100mW of wifi power
Wich was killing my battery, i just arrive home, plugged to charger and deleted this connection, lets see how it works tomorrow without this monster.
I never ever created this adhoc connection, so better you people check if you have this created and running too.
I just discovered another connection called dummy_iap.
