Hey fellas take it easy The N900 isn't exactly your run-off-the-mill average Joe's device, but rather a phone witch entails a world of its own. Getting to actually influence what you hold in your hands isn't #1 priority for everyone. Instead the user experience might be most valued.

I think it's important to see things from someone else's perspective every now and then to keeep yourself honest. I think it's happened here. We got an average Joe's (or Joanna's?) views on the phone and its valuable info on what needs adjusting for mass-appeal.

That said, I don't feel that the N900 should be a phone for the masses. I don't think it aims to be one. Therefore anyone thinking between the iPhone and the N900 gets an iPhone recommendation from me, because the N900 experience (in the good and the bad) can be a little much for the inexperienced.

Just as a more informative and contructive post - I thought I would try and pin down some of the use cases where the Music player stutters IN MY CASE.

Note : I have latest PR1.1 update applied
Am using stock media player
Starting the N900 from a clean boot as a test case
started the Media player as the first app
Have around 200+ songs stored in SD card
SD card has 603 MB available (out of 4GB)

1) I start the web browser without connecting to Wifi or 3G - web browser starts connecting to 3G (as no Wifi availeble in test case scenario) - since its connecting in background with white browser window as my main screen - music start stuttering seriously.
I check 3G strength - its 2.5G actually.

2) Browsing smoothly now and listening to music - over 3.5G (some regions have spotty 3G with T-Mobile) - no stuttering.
I open Goole.com - tap the cursor on the search bar - the onscreen keyboard pops up - music stops for a second and resumes.

2nd time I tap on the search bar and on-screen keyboard comes on - nothing - no stuttering - 3rd time, 4th time - nothing. Seems only on first time when the OSK daemon (or process) is loaded for first time only ... this happens

3) From first window of browser, I click a link to open another window (on Talk.maemo.org) - as secon window starts loading a quick stutter.

4) I open conversations window - and refresh my GTalk conversations (via the One Ring I presume) - stuttering of music. Browser is still on.

These are some of the test cases I juct checked quickly ... its not a deal breaker - but its an issue. You cant say "oh, its NOT an issue at all" - is my point.
