i had both on n95-8GB and n97, i would have said maps 3 was the winner as it was smooth and accurate and GPS lock was fast. But the version of Sygic on n900 is good as maps 3 if not better and i like the camera alerts on Sygic, however they are the only 2 apps the feel the same when you use it.

I've been using navigation software on my phone for a while now, and I've never resented paying for companies to develop software that I enjoy the use of..

The premium of €50 ($60) is cheap compared to TomTom symbian software which was closer to €100..

My only real issues are:

there isn't a trial version (especialy since its only a beta!),

If this company specialises in developing navigational software.. will they even exist in 6 months time (tomtom had half its share price knocked off straight away when Nokia announced free navigational software) to support the product (develop the beta).

I will go for the Navit option for the time being and hopefuly will get Ovi maps with audio turn by turn instructions soon (which doesnt seem like it needs to be developed to much to give audio instructions..?), and hopefuly favourites aswell..

having said all that - it does seem to be 1 of the most highly anticipated developments of the nokia N900 by the seemingly nokia loyalist community here.. would be in their interests to be nice to you guys and hurry up..

I asked this in the huge Sygic thread but didn't see a response. Does anyone know what happens if you buy Sygic and then subsequently lose you phone or have it stolen? Would you have to purchase it again when your phone is replaced or do they have a way of locking the version on your lost phone and letting you download it again?

I would have thought you could give them an IME number and they could re-asign your activation code to that device (not the stolen or lost IME)..

I transfered my TomTom liesence from a nokia e61 to a nokia e51 and they were very helpful about it (but thats TomTom not Sygic)

you might have to proof to them that you really did lose the phone...otherwise they may not believe you...depends on how nice the people you're talking to are...you should contact Sygic about this issue before buying...most of us will never have the right answer for u as we don't work for sygic...
